I believe Torey explained the small, isolated town in an attempt to inform readers that those cruel, manipulative intensions know no boundaries. That garbage happens everywhere. I think most people have lived on this earth long enough to figure that out, with the exception of innocent children. I didn't read anywhere in "Ghost Girl" any remarks about all Satin worshipers conducting the same acts. I think Torey's intensions were merely to make us, the readers, aware that it does happen.
